Seems to suck air
« on: May 09, 2007, 17:40:38 pm »
Hi there,

I'm not to sure what I'm doing wrong but my dd uses the Avent bottles I have got her using the 3 month teat but the one where if you turn the bottle you can either use a 2 whole flow, a 3 whole flow and 4 whole flow. I usually use the 3 whole flow, as she gets frustrated on the 2 whole one and chokes on the whole one.

But she seems to gulp down a lot of wind. And I continuously hear a clicking sound as though she is loosing grip of the teat on her tongue. Hope I'm making sense??

So do you think I should change bottles mabye use the NUK ones?? or do you think she'll come right. I have only been using bottle exclusively for over a week now???

I know this sounds weird and a bit obsessive but I like the Avent bottles (my son uses the NUK and I"m bored of them)

Thanks
Kate

hi Kate

how old is she?

we are and have been using avent and really IMHO the only thing you nedd to adjust is the teat... i suggest you buy the right nuber teat instead of using variflow one.

that sound- it's normal. it's supposed to be the air she's not gulping.

hope that makes sense ;)

We originally used Avent, and also found that our lo was very windy.  We switched to the NUK and found that it made the world of differnence.

When he was older - around 5 months, we switched back to the Avent bottles and he was able to handle them better.

Hi there,

Thanks for response.

She is 3 months and 2 weeks. Will try the teat according to her age and see what happens. If that doesn't work I'll try Nuk.

Thanks
Kate

My ds had a very small mouth and he couldnt use the avent ones because it wouldnt fit right in his mouth.  I would suggest trying a diferent bottle and seeig if that helps.  Good luck! Christie
