Do you think she can make it to 1:30 and then fall asleep?

I can *try*  Today would have been a big no... she was so tired, she agreed to a nap half way through lunch and was out cold at 12:30.  On Sundays naps are usually 1:30/2 because we're not home from church until 12:30/1.  This Sunday she'll be on DH's watch after I bf her!

Rachel,

I find Nello has 40 min sleep cycles.  When he is overtired he wakes up at the end of the first cycle and needs help, but will only go to the 1.5 mark.  Generally, he sleeps only 2 and 1/2 cycles- 1.5 hours, I would kill for 3 sleep cycles- 2 hours, as I think he needs it, I really have stopped waiting for it to happen as the dissapointment kills me each day  :(! Sorry to highjack your thread. If he is not tired enough, he makes it through the first 40 min cycle no probs but only does 1 1/2 cycles, which is 1 hour.  I hate when that happens.  So even though, I kept trying to get him down earlier because I thought that was best for him, he would do an hour on us!  Sorry if this is mumbo jumbo equation like, but I feel your pain.  I now put him to sleep at 12:30 (up at 6:30ish) It at leasts gets us 1.5 hours no help needed. It seems too late to me, but take yesterday for example, he fell asleep at 11:45 in the car and I transferred him (which I think is a perfect time for him to sleep, but apparently he doesn't) he woke up at the hour mark and man that is a long afternoon to last!

I don't get the NW as much anymore when he is has accumulative overtired days, but we get the 1 cycle too short in the A.M and man is there a difference in his mood at 6am than a lovely 6:40am wake up, my mood as well!  ::)  I think you should try Lana's idea.

Aisling x

Well, as it is, she rarely is asleep at 7... it's the goal, but more often than not, she's not asleep until 7:30.  I'll keep working at it.... Paige is only in school another 1.5 weeks, then I won't have her schedule to work around and can adjust the nap time easier.

Thanks for all your input, I so appreciate it  :-*

Well, I am fairly certain a later nap time is not the answer.  I fed her at about 12:45 and she fell asleep at the breast, but was wide awake when I laid her down... that was 2 hours ago and she hasn't slept one bit!

I am so afraid of that.  When I unlatched her, she was wide awake... if I had let her have more, I know she would have fallen into a deep sleep... I know, prop.

I am so terrible at sleep training (she does fine at night) and dh isn't home during the day until mid June (she goes to sleep fine if I'm not here).  I am leaning towards "don't offer, don't refuse" for weaning and she begs for the bf before nap.  IKWYM about the quick nap... we have that issue if she falls asleep in the car... hadn't thought about it as an issue when bfing.  :-\

I can try that... maybe I'll feed her in my room.

At night the feed is first, then dh takes over for bath (if it's bath night), teeth, lotion, pjs, books, songs and bed.... same routine if it's me too.

I don't remember my point... i am working on wi/wo with a very overtired lo
