PJ's and Room Temps

david's momma, I don't think you'd have a prob introducing it with a toddler. I introduced one with DS around 12-13mos then started using one for naps too a few months ago. Find them so good as you just regulate what they wear in it but are always aure they'll be covered up. Don't know about you but even in summer I like my legs covered even if just a sheet! Currentlt here its 25 degrees + we set DS a/c to 20 degrees for the evening and have him in long sleeved PJs and a 1.0tog grobag. The grobag comes with a little room themometer and on the back it tells you how to dress them for all temps and what tog to use.

We tried introducing a sleep sack when Brendan was a baby and he hated it.  We tried again at the beginning of winter when he was about 9 months old and he still hated it.  So we just gave up and now just focus on keeping his room warm.

Can toddlers use grobags once the bars are removed from their cots? I can't imagine Isabella ever keeping sheets on! It's just that she is so tall, I think she will be in a toddler bed by the end of the year!

Don't you find tho' they really aren't that restrictive, DD can roll, crawl and stand up in hers.  It really does depend on the LO doesn't it, DD is text book, I'm thinking spirited might find it too restrictive.

Lilab4 - you can get them for up to 4yr olds so I guess using them in a bed would be no problem or they wouldn't sell them, right?

new mum - That's what I thought, but I was worried about her getting out of bed and trying to walk in it in the night. You are right though at the moment she crawls aound her cot and stands up in it.

Bradley was in a bed with his, he could crawl in it so its not that restrictive

There is a one piece body-suit (called blanket sleepers) for toddlers that replaces the gro-bags. Rory had a grow-bag/sleeping bag but by last winter she was pretty annoyed at how restrictive it was.

My neighbour recommended them and I use this one, it is really warm, and no chance of uncovering in the cold of winter. Rory sleeps fantastically at night, and I don't have to go in when I wake up at night to make sure she is still covered by her blanket (she's a wriggler!)

My DD nearly 21months never stays under the blankets at night she has a little cot quilt so it is easier for me to re cover her up. We are coming into winter now so i have her in long cotton PJ's and a fleecy sleepsuit with feet in in she loves it. I keep the house at about 19-20C until about 9pm and then the house drops in temp during the night and at 5.30am the heat comes back on and the house goes to 19C again.

Yaya, I am the same as you about wanting cover even when warmer, and thank you for the info about the grobag.  I am very interested.
Stacy, it's good to hear from someone who has already done the research on prices, thank you!  And also good to know about sizes, don't want to buy something David will just grow out of in a few months...
Tink, the halo sleep sack is another good idea as I am still not sure if DS would just get more irritated about not having his legs free...
Charmaine, is snugtime the same as snuglebyes, do you know?  I have used the later before but when I went to get one in a larger size the store no longer had them.   
Natasha, we are now in summer here so I am currently having a hard time finding warmer sleep gear since DS is growing out of his winter stuff.   
I have a lot to look into!  Thank you all!

hi kris,
i am not sure if they are the same. i only just found out about these ones.  I actually didn't realise they had one piece suits for older kids as I hadn't seen them around.  Since then I've seen lighter ones (less like a 'blanket') in Target though, up to size 7.

I learned something new from you guys...

Our home is about 21C and she sleeps in an undershirt and one pc. footed pj's under a light comforter.  I've been looking for these sleeping bags, but I couldn't find them anywhere in my town, so I folded the comforter in half and put some snaps on the bottom and side to make it like a sleeping bag.  It works, except when she moves a lot.  Then she ends up uncovered... which thankfully does not happen all that often.

But since reading your posts I found a website for a store located in my parents' town, which sells these British sleeping bags of 2.5 tog.  I'll ask my mom to pick one up for me...
