only settles with a cuddle
« on: June 25, 2007, 04:35:12 am »
hey all. hope your all having good days.
i have a 16 week old son and we were having lots of trouble with feeding and sleeping.  anyway now we are on 4hr EASY and loving it.  Jakson used to wake after 45mins and now we are resettling to extend his sleeps which works lovely and he sleeps for another 45mins - 1hr.  Sometimes he will resettle himself and sleep for 2hrs which is heaven.  However some times he will only resettle if I pick him up and shush/pat him and then put him back down in his cot. He is still awake and then goes to sleep.  I have tried resettling him in his cot but it just doesn't work for us and Jakson becomes hysterical and then I've no hope of resettling him.  I literally only pick him up for 2mins and he is back of to dream land.  Is this ok to do this?  Will he eventually learn to sleep through his sleep cycles with me helping him or am I making it worse.
thanks in advance
shan and jakson

My though is that when you dont mind it, its OK, its when you dont want to do it, when it starts to be a trouble.
And of course when it is not working anymore.

If he is waking every nap at 45 minutes have you tried wake to sleep with him?
Thats when you go in about 30 minute point and caress him gently so he will stir?

hi thanks for replying.  yes have tried W2S and it has not been successful at all.  have tried all different times to no avail.  he still wakes up.  he is really easy to settle with shh/pat in my arms for 2mins so i guess you are right.  it is working for us at the moment.  im sure in a few weeks things will change again.
