Another EW question
« on: May 21, 2007, 11:15:00 am »
When the F do they grow out of them???? 'scuse the language but am pretty tired and fed up today >:(
Ds has been waking 6am past 3 mornings and today it was before 6, I CANNOT handle this and cannot work out why.
Background infO: day sleep hasnt been great either because of a cold and he's been waking once at night ( no idea why- very upset but doesnt seem in pain) at varying times.
I have tried putting to bed earlier adn he just takes ages to fall asleep.
I'm so p****d off with this, night waking, early morning, feel like I'm dealing with a newborn already ::)
Please help need to fix this asap
here's our routine
(was)
wake 7am
12 lunch then nap anytime between 12.15 and 12.45  for (used to be ) 2hrs now hardly an hr unless I resettle
dinner 5.45
bath 6.50 then bottle and bed by 7.30

He has had a cold past week which is clearing up but in that time I have had to 'see to him' A LOT for day and night sleep due to blocked nose etc...

TIA,  :-*

Stacy thanx for ur insight!!! I do suspect its overtired, it started from not being able to nap well from a stuffed up nose and gradually sleep has wrosened, so today I didnt wake from nap and he slept over 2.5hrs, went down in 15mins forbedtime only 4.5 hrs later so this could confirm the overtired theory, what do u think?

Hi! My 17 mo DS is still waking in the 5ams and we're pretty fed up of it too!. I would consider 6am wake up as acceptable now actually!!

Layla did mention that EW can be caused by teething and I'm hoping this is the reason. DS is cutting his bottom molars at the moment and wakes between 1 - 3 and can't get back to sleep unless we give med.
Last night was night 3 of the med (Medised - the best in my opinion!), so don't know what I'll do tonight if he wakes. I'm going to have a poke around in a moment to see if tooth is through - hope so!

What do you do if LO wakes between 5 - 6 and won't go back to sleep with PD? If it's before 6, I'm afraid I give him his am bottle a bit earlier and put him back to sleep for 30 mins. An extra 30 mins sleep for me makes a big difference!  Not sure if this is the best solution however and I don't want this to become a habit - has it already?!
 Lis

have you tried a really early bedtime i have done it again tonight...
yesturday went like this
up at 5.40am bottle in cot ( i know i shouldn't but ::))
nap 12.30 till 1.30 pm bed at 6pm,and that really short nap always happens at daycare.............. but today he slept till 7am as you know but he also napped for 1.5hrs at nursery 12 till 1.30pm i am so hoping he napped better because he was well rested from the night before and that this will continue, i put him to bed again tonight at 6pm so we will see what happens.............
although now i have a new problem lol.......... he has been waking for weeks on and off at 5am ish and everytime he wakes b4 6 i give bottle in cot and go back to bed :-[ so this morning he kicked off when i didnt give bottle in cot ;D
