Almost 1 year everything was excellent, and now he forgot how to fall asleep alone?????We tried to calm him(instead of last feeding like it used to be) by singing or stroking in the bed for a short while, but always when we leaving the room, he started crying and stand up PU/PD in the bed.During the day is all right, he has 1 nap ab. 10:00, and he is falling asleep normally. He likes his bed, but why he cannot falling asleep like it used to be?????? What we are doing wrong???Sorry for my english :)  ;D. Please give me advice, I'm sad, I'm angry, I'm powerless...Tracy help me from heaven :'( I would like to help my son fall asleep again

Hi there and welcome to the boards!!! ;D

You mentioned that he is only taking 1 nap. I suspect that he is taking a long 1.5-2hr nap and then is awake all afternoon. He is overtired if this is the case, and really needs to be either on 1 long nap in the afternoon at 12pm OR needs to be taking 2 naps. Usually at around this age, they start to make a transition form 2-1 naps so your little man is doing just that. Hard to get 2 naps in if he is taking a long morning nap, so I would suggest you wake him in the morning around 45mins into his nap to get a longer afternoon nap going.

Could you please post your day. Time he wakes and time he goes to sleep, etc.... We'll try to base a schedule based on his wake up time....

Layla

Hello and thanks for quick reply :)
I forgot to mentioned that he has another nap afternoon about 14:30 for at least 30-45min when we are going for a walk. His daily schedule:
wake up ab 7:30-8:30
9:00 breakfast 180ml groats
1st nap ab 10:00-10:30 for ab 1-1,5h
12:00 dinner
13:00-15:15 go for a walk
15:30 milk 210ml
17:00 desert
19:00 groats 180ml
ab 20:15 falling asleep
At the beggining I thought that maybe he eating last groats too late, I read in Tracy toddlers book that also before night sleep he shouldn't walk alone (he is walking still with our support but for one hand) because is to excited I thing. During the day for his 1st nap he is falling asleep  ok, he tried to forced me to delay his nap by little crying but I know from his signs (rubbing his eyes) that is time to sleep, after few PU/PD for ab 5-15min he sleep. WHen we are out afternoon, he react very quickly for my few words: Kacper it's time for sleep, and he is falling asleep in his car almost straight away, my husband always says that this words working like a magic words. Since Kacper finished 3 months (then I read first Tracy book) I brought him up  according to Tracy methods, including falling asleep with clapping him on his shoulders in heart's rythm, without any facilitation (swinging etc..), he has regular daily schedule, with eating and sleeping time, I'm very strict about that, I hate rutine, but now I loved it for that matter, my life is predictible, and is more comfortable to schedule my own day and life. And for 1 year everything was ok, and now this night falling asleep buuuuu :(. I have to mentioned also that 3 weeks ago we visited our parents, relatives in Poland (for 2 weeks) where we used to live, and where Kacper was born. Now we live in Germany, my husband got a job here, and Kacper normally (unfortunately) every day are only with us, when we were in Poland he also cought his first flu and got for the first time antibiotic. I suspected that all this fact could influence him, but all my methods to come back to his rutine failed.
I hope that all this information could help.
I will be very greatfull for any advices.
Agnes

He could have been off tracked from the holiday but more importantly, I think its the afternoon nap thats causing the sleep disturbances. I would actually try cutting the morning nap right down to 45mins (to start with) so that he can have a longer afternoon nap. I think his awake time before bedtime is too long and thats causing some overtiredness (especially that the pm nap is a catnap).

This is the schedule I would be aiming for:
7.30ish - wake up
10.30 - morning nap (wake him at 11:15am)
2:30pm - afternoon nap (should be longer, 1.5hrs)
8pm - bedtime

Try that for a week and see how it goes.

Good to hear Agi. He should be back on track for a while and when you notice him fighting the pm nap again, then usually we suggest to cut the morning nap to 40mins, then 30, etc... until he will refuse to sleep in the morning and will have 1 afternoon nap.....

So glad he is taking an afternoon nap. He should be sleeping better at night again now that he is better rested

We are after 3 days trial, like I mentioned once it was like in your schedule, morning nap 45min and afternoon nap 1,5h, but next 3 days wasn't good, morning 45min but afternoon was 35-45min, I will try to test kacper next 3 days, but if doesn't work I have to probably come back to longer nap in the morning, he will be more fresh, now in the evening he is more tired

Agi, can you please tell me what time you are attempting the naps and what time is bedtime. I think its a matter of getting the right timing cause he might not be tired enough for a longer pm nap or could be overtired if the awake times are too long

Hi, I tried your schedule:
1st nap 10:30-11:45
2nd nap ab14:30-15:00(15:15)
I wake him up  at7:30-7:45 in the morning, and his bath is 20:00, bed time 20:15, and lastly he is falling asleep between 15-30min. All this problems started when I finished feeding him by my milk, after last feeding ab 20 I put him to bed and he was sleeping, I understand that he is older, but from Tracy book I know that when the baby or toddler are used to everyday sleeping routine he is more comfortable and he likes when he can predict next steps. (but I see that is not concern  Kacper buu) Now I cannot understand what he is aiming for. Now his last meal is at 19:00, then we tried to relaxed him  reading a book, singing etc., next is bath, and time for wash the teeth. And last few days already when he is washing his teeth with me or with daddy he start crying, he probably feels that he is going to bed. We stayed at his room last 6days until he fall asleep,(we are not used to it-1 year was everything all right!!!!!), I thought that he is afraid of staying alone, but I don't see any big changes in his behaviour. In the morning when he is only with me, he has almost similar sleeping routine like in the evening, and when I put him to the bed, sometimes he fall asleep straight away, sometimes like today he cry a little bit, but in the morning I put him to bed and leave the room, he stay alone. ( I think that he likes his bed). I have to explain that because we have small flat, his bed stand in our room, and when he stands in one corner of his bed he can see what happen in another room, its not too far. We haven't standart doors, that's why we cannot shut the door. I'm taking into account everything what can cause recent sleeping problems.
What do you yhing?
Agi

Agi, if he is taking a short afternoon nap, bring the bedtime forward to 6.30-7pm. This will help him catch up with some sleep. Also you are letting him sleep for more than 1hr in the morning? The schedule you posted mentions the morning nap of 1hr15mins...  ???

Sorry I'd mistake, it supposed to be 10:30-11:15  ::)
Yesterday he was sleeping 40min in the afternoon (morning nap 45min), today I'd let him sleep in the morning and he sleeped 1h10min, and in the afternoon 55min  :D. Maybe he still needs more sleep in the morning? Yesterday he had also problem with night fallling asleep, it took him 35min. We will see today. For the suggestion about early bed time 6:30-7:00pm, I think that is too early, especially now in summer time and I'm afraid that he will wake up very early  :-\
