Baby not hungry when he wakes up
« on: June 04, 2007, 16:29:06 pm »
My son is a few days short of four months and was sleeping well at night (5-6hours). He is now waking at 230 to drain an  entire 8oz so I know it is hunger. When he wakes at 7 or 730 he won't take a bottle. This morning he was ready for 9am nap without eating.  How do I get him to eat his bottle without forcing it so that he will sleep the night?

He is on breastmilk, in a bottle.

Thanks

Thats a tough one. You cant really force a baby to eat, but can you try giving him a bottle and see how much he will take, or does he refuse it completely?  How long does he sleep at night and how many ozs does he take in 24 hours? Do you do the dreamfeed? Hope we can help, Christie

we began EASY one week ago.  (my son will be 16 weeks in 2days). He was not an independant sleeper or a good napper.  He would go down for two 1 hour naps and the evening nap was 45 min.  Final bedtime was 10-1030.  He would then sleep until 430 for a feed and up at 9am.  This was not working as he was overtired during the day.  Since starting easy he is having two full naps during the day and going to sleep on his own.  Sometimes catnaps in the evening.  Asleeep by 8 dreamfeed at 11.

He is waking more in the night now then before (and taking a full feed of 7-8 oz at 2am) then up at 5ish.  I don't know whether or not to feed at 5 he is restless until 7.  If I don't feed at 5am is still is not eating at 7.  He ends up eating almost as he goes down for his 9am nap.  Yesterday consumed average amount of bottles 29oz including dreamfeed.

Any advice woudl be much appreciated.
