nap interrupted and wont go back to sleep!
« on: July 01, 2007, 21:38:16 pm »
I've found myself in this situation a few times this week.
I try my best to work my schedule around EASY so it's predictable for my 4mo old, but sometimes because of doing errands, being out and about, I have had to wake him up in the middle of his nap (after only 20 mintes sometimes) when we get home to move him into his crib.

The problem here is that once he's been awoken in the middle, he won't go back to bed no matter what. he just cries and cries and cries. and then i don't know how to get back on track. Do I just feed him at that time and start EASY all over again even though it was only 2 hours since his last feed? then won't he be overtired? I have tried everything to put him back to bed but it has not worked.

How do we get back on schedule once a nap has been interrupted?

Where does he sleep when out and about. Is there an option to leave him to finish his nap there?

My LO will never go back to sleep once woken up either!  Eg if someone in the house makes a noise and wakes her up.

When this happens we do low key activity until the next feed time, feed roughly on schedule (obviously unless she gets really hungry sooner) and then when she's tired I put her down for another nap (earlier than usual) and hope that we catch up then with a longer nap. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!  If it doesn't work we end up with a rather tired Katie and/or a rather early bedtime...

Same as pp. When mine used to nap out & about, I would leave her where she is and let her wake up on her own. She would never go past 45mins so the following naps had to be bumped up (together with bedtime)
