when a nap is interrupted...
« on: July 23, 2007, 18:38:54 pm »
... do you extend the other naps to make up for it or continue on your schedule as is?

My 9 week old touchy DD had her 2 month shots this morning.  :(  She fell asleep afterward but was already 30 min late for her nap, then woke up early, with only a total of 50 min nap time.  She was cheerful enough, made it to her 11 am feeding, but by noon was overtired and very difficult to put down. Up by 12:30 and there was no getting her back to sleep (she was in a rage).  I fed her early at 1:20, then she went to bed at around 1:35, and has been asleep since. (2 and a bit hours)

I know you are not supposed to let them sleep longer than 2 hours in a row, but she missed most of her sleep earlier today, and she is not due to feed yet.

In similar situations, should I let her sleep longer to make up for missed nap time, or should I wake her as I normally would?

Hi there -

Because of the shots, she will be out of sorts so I would just let her sleep.  I remember when my dd got her first shots she slept from about 6 pm until 3 am.  They really tired her out and she was also overtired and irritable before she finally got to sleep.  I would try to get feeds in though so only wake for those.

Hope that helps a tiny bit.
