2-1 nap questions
« on: August 06, 2007, 22:31:06 pm »
first off, how do you know which nap to shorten?  secondly if the first nap would work better to shorten and it overlaps with eating if you let it go long does that matter?  I am trying to figure out what to do with DS today has been a tough one as I am trying to figure out what to do.  he has had to have his paci  more today and I have not been able to get him to go down easily.  thanks in advance.

Hi Mel, what time are the naps now? Ideally you shorten the morning nap & at his age it would be no less than 45mins & than do the afternoon nap about 3-3.5hrs later & bedtime about 3.5hrs after the pm nap.

The eating routine might be a little off & you'll have to be creative (like split lunch or give a big snack before nap & then lunch after). At this age, Jasmine was doing

6ish am - wakes
9-9:45am - morning nap
1:15-2:45 - afternoon nap
6:15 - bedtime

Then she started waking up earlier for the day & I pushed her morning nap to 9:30-10:15am, afternoon nap to 1:30-3pm & bedtime at 6:30pm

right now his morning nap is at 11:00 he has always had a later morning nap them most his age.  I tried the earlier thing a while ago but he just cried and cried and fought me so I gave in to the later naps.  that is why the eating questions comes in becauser iof I shorten the morning nap then his afternoon nap would go across his dinner time and if I shortent he afternoon one it hits lunch.  I'll try the 45 min thing for the next few days and see what ahppens.

Mel, not all babies take well to shorter morning nap. Since his nap is so late in the morning, you could try letting him sleep as long as he wants & bring bedtime to an earlier hour. Or do a catnap in the afternoon rather than the morning.
