Oh that’s the best news I’ve heard all day…..all week…….for ages!! I was getting really worried about you!
You’re a brave lady to do all you did. It’s so hard to see the wood for the trees and all the advice can really put your head in a spin. I bet the negative feelings you have about the formula will be distant memories in years to come when you have a happy healthy child and it all falls into perspective. Same for the rest of us with all the perceived mistakes we have all made or will make in the future!!
Please do stay on the site!! You'll be most welcome!!! :-*

I have never been so happy to see a reply to a post as I was when I saw this one.

I am in tears of sadness for all that you were put through and tears of joy for the outcome.

Many, many {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} to you.  Sure do hope you stick around.  :-*

Oh, I'm so glad for you that ds is fine now!  But I just want to scream!

WHY DO PEOPLE FEEL ENTITILED TO MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT OTHER WOMEN'S BF'ING?

It seems like whether you do or not, or whatever you do, somebody has a criticism about it - how dare they? Almost makes me want to go back to the Dark Ages when such things were "unmentionable".

I wish I had a superpower to zap lightning bolts at those idiot doctors and anyone who makes comments to make you feel bad!  You remember that scene in "The Matrix" when Keanu Reaves' mouth was sealed shut?  That's what we should do to them.

ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!

Hugs to you and your precious precious lo.

Please stick around - the more people share their experiences, the more we can learn from one another. Just think what you've done for all your friends with babys already!

Hello, I just joined this board today I felt so much that I wanted to reply.

I too have been in a sort of similar position. My DS was only 6lbs 12 oz when born and then he went down to 6lb 6 oz which they say is normal in the first week (10%) but then when I got home he dropped even more! I was horrified!

I cannot tell you how much worrying I have done and am still doing even though now he is 8lbs 12 oz at 6 weeks which is good but I feel like it could be better. I put myself under constant pressure, i watch every mouthful and swallow, and look at the clock even though I have been told to relax and let it go!

I really really sympathise with you summer.baby and I am amazed at your spirit and determination! I am so glad your son is doing well now.

However I must tell you that all may not be lost on the breastfeeding front. 2 weeks ago I went to a homeopathic doctor that I went to regularly before I had my son and said to him that I feel exhausted and drained all the time and just felt sometimes that I couldn't feed DS as I felt I didn't have it in me, and he gave me a tonic (baby also has breastfeeding jaundice which meant he kept falling asleep 5 mins after feeding...very very very frustrating, I would have to wake him 4 times to get 20 minutes and feel terrible every time).

This tonic he said all breastfeeding mothers should have, it will help to lift my spirits and help with supply and help with the jaundice.

Well that same week on the wed my health visitor said looks like we need to top up with formula so I started topping up 3 oz just once a day after 15  mins of breast feed. Well he put on 12 oz that week and this week he put on 8 and 1/2 oz and has grown 3cm in length. He is catching up on the chart so he is almost in line with his first birthweight in the curve on the growth chart. It may or may not be due to the tonic as before he put on 12 oz he did put on 7 oz the week before.

I researched on the internet and found that homeopaths have ALOT of medicines for breastfeeding, and can even help a woman who has stopped breastfeeding for a length of time to start it again. I found this very surprising but very reassuring. I would research first to find a good one but I would go to a homeopath for any breastfeeding issues. If you want to know who mine is just post and I will let you know but I promise I am not advertising. I just thought it would be good to share what I knew.

I hope I can come to a time when I am not worrying, but as family aqaintances seem to keep saying "gosh he is a small baby isn't he?" I don't think it will be so soon.

Best wishes!

P.S his jaundice looks a lot better, and he seems to be drinking better but I don't know whether my judgement is clouded, you truly can go around in circles.

So so so so glad, summer.baby to hear that things are improving.  I have been thinking of you and your ds a lot these past few weeks.  I am so sorry what you had to go through but glad that you are coming out the other side victorious.  I am sorry there is so much pressure on bf-ing these days, there is nothing wrong with going the formula route.  Keep up your diligence and kick those medical people in the butt for me!  ;)
