Hi there!
Sophia-Isabella has truly been a fabulous sleeper for the most part up until here recently. Even through her pre-molars, which have all come out, she has managed to sleep well though he night. Just recently in the past few days we have been experiencing her waking up earlier than normal crying out for me and sobbing. The first time it happend was 3 days ago (Friday)...she woke up at 6:30 a.m. CRYING! I went in picked her up and held her for a while then nursed her and actually hung out for a bit then put her down so I could take a shower...she cried for a bit wi/wo and then she was fine. Now waking up at this time typically isn't out of the norm...she would wake up anywhere from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m....and I always get her out of bed at 7:30 a.m. no matter what time she wakes up...she happily plays and talks to herself (and doesn't cry out for me) until I come and get her. Saturday morning was fine she did as usual..woke up at 7 and happily waited for me to come get her at 7:30 like usual. Then Sunday early morning at around 2:30- a.m. she wakes up crying for me so I come in carry her and sit with her on the rocking chair to calm her down..mind you this time she is wide awake and talking to me. After say 10 minutes I put her back down in bed and pat her (she is also holding on tightly to my hand so I don't leave) and when things are calm I walk out...she starts to cry. I walk in with a tissue to blow her nose and don't pick her up this time...tell her it is time for bed pacify her and walk out. She cries for a bit then stops. The same thing happened again this morning...she woke up at 4:15 a.m. this time, same thing crying for me...we go through the whole process of picking her up sitting on the rocking chair to pacify her...but she is wide awake now. Put her in bed and pat her then walk out...she cries for a bit and just as I get the tissue int he bathroom...she stops crying and I didn't have to walk back in this time. My question is first of all...can anyone shed some light as to what this could be? Why is she doing this all of a sudden? Am I doing something wrong? By picking her up when she is crying out for me standing on her crib, have I started a bad habit? It is very hard for me not to get her and hold her when this happens. is this normal for a 19 month old to do this....especially since this was never really problem of hers? Could she be over tired? As a result of this (after our 4:15 a.m. episode today), Sophia woke up at 6:00 a.m. ....quite early than the usual and was okay chirping away in bed happily waiting for me. But as soon as I walked in to get her out of bed...she started to act up ..demanding to be nursed even if she was done...would not let me change her nappy...basically downright cranky an dI suspect over tired (?). Unfortunately due to disrupted sleep, I too was cranky so it made the whole process harder for the both of us.
Here is Sophia-Isabella's routine that has always worked pretty well for us:
Wake - anywhere between 6:30 - 7:15 a.m.
Out of Bed - 7:30 a.m.
Lunch -11:00 a.m.
Bath -11:30
Nap - Anywhere between 12:15 - 12:30 (usually sleeps for 1 hour and a half)
Up from bed - 3:00 pm
Dinner - 6:15 or 6:30
Bed - 7:15 - 7:30 and usually falls asleep around 8-8:30 (should I be putting her down right at 7:00 instead? Also I normally read to her too..what time should we be OUT of her room?)
Sorry for the rather long-winded explanation but wanted to get as much information out there so that someone can help shed some light as to what may be the reason behind this...and hopefully a resolution can also be reached.
Thank you soo much!
Ana
