why the sudden change in schedule?
« on: October 01, 2007, 18:02:59 pm »
ok things were going along smoothly and than everything changed. Now I don't know when to feed her next and feel like the rest of the day she'll be wanting to eat every 2 hours if not even sooner. I tried to check if she really wanted something else (paci...rocking.... burping ect) and she really did seem hungry and really did drink like she was fairly hungry...not starving though. I'm talking about toward the end where 11:30 I could only get her to drink 2oz. She was a little slow at that one. And than worse 1:30 - so far I've only been able to get her to drink 1oz and it's almost 2:10pm. I'm trying to start a loose E.A.S.Y and stuff like this really messes it up. She is a gassy baby. She's 7 weeks old today.

12:20 - 3oz
4:14 - 3oz
8:20 - 3oz
11:32 - 2oz
1:30 – 1oz

Do you think it might be reflux? Does she seems uncomfortable while eating? Are you bfeeding? She should be going between 2.5 and 3 hours if she is bf or 3 if she is ff. 3 oz or even 2.5 at that age sounds perfect enough to me. Is she constipated?
So what is like your question exactly? What bottle and number of nipple are you using? lot of questions...

I guess based on the schedule above and how she started eating like that....I was wondering what would be the best "next" time to feed her so I'm not spending the rest of the day and night wondering if she's hungry and feeding every hour to 2 hours because I  don't know if she's hungry or not from only drinking small amounts.

I do not think she is eating small amounts, Babies at this age eat  small amounts so just feed her every 3 hours. So next would be at 4:30 pm whatever she drinks and if she is crying just give the paci and investigate if she is really hungry or needs to sleep or has some gas or reflux...gotta go brb asap.

Well sometimes she really does eat every 2 hours. She drinks anywhere from 1-3 oz and is totalling about 20 oz in a 24 hour period. She's 7 weeks old. I had no choice the rest of the afternoon today. Pep had to take care of her because I had to go to the doctors and he will only demand feed and thinks when they cry there hungry.

hi. So are you bfeeding, if not formula has to be every 2.5 or 3 hours in order for them to not cause colic or gas, so do try to feed her at least every 2.5 hours. Maybe try a bigger nipple, but i remember that ds ate 2 or 3 oz every 3 hours , 2 when he was constipated and this was until 3.5 months old...so do not worry about the amount, she knows waht she needs, some babies are not gigantic eaters, but if she is crying a lot you should check out about a reflux or colicky possibility and give some meds, Mylicon works perfectly... Some babies with reflux need to eat more often because eating feels better for them when something is hurting in their throat... Reflux does not necessary appears from day 1 of birth it can come later too...
