early wake and short nap
« on: September 27, 2007, 18:52:29 pm »
Holden has been waking early and having 45 min naps for the last couple days. I have been trying to get him to bed earlier but we have been so busy with dd in the play sometimes it's hard. He is not night waking (fingers crossed now). My question is does he need less sleep? Last night he was down at 7 and up at 6 with a 45 min nap. Should I try to put him down before 7 since he was up at 6 and only a 45 min nap? I don't want ot to creep in. He usually sleeps 1.5-2 hr nap. When he does have a good nap and decent am wake I put him down at 7:30- 7:45 without a fuss.

When Bella only slept 45mins at that age I did used to put her down for the night at 6 (she woke at 6am). Do you think he might be teething??? That often messed with the length of the nap & the wake up hour

It could be that he needs less daytime sleep but I don't think that he would cut down by 1.5hrs... iukwim... with us Bella dropped to 12ish hours from 13hrs around age 2

Well I shouldn't have mentioned the nw because he woke at 3:30 this morning and I could not get him back to sleep. Gave him motrin and put something warmer on him. Finally at 5:30 dh had to get up for work and he got up with him. That didn't help me because I had been up for 2 hrs and I can't get back to sleep. I gave him breakfast and he was watching tv on the couch and fell back to sleep about 6:30. So how to do gage his a time now should it be 5 hrs from when he gets up? I think ot is starting to kick in now. Uugh if not one thing than another :-\

well after a night like that you just have to go with it, imo.  Think of today as a freebie, put him down super early and hopefully it will help him get a good nights sleep.

Is it possible for you to get him down by 6?

I think I have started to see some improvement in the nights by putting him down earlier by about 30 min consistently.  So he is in crib between 630-7 and eventually falls asleep 30 min earlier than he used to

Well he wouldn't go down easy for nap so we went for a ride and he slept 40 min. Went to bed at 7:15 and had to wi/wo 3 times and was asleep by 7:35. Then he woke this am about 6:30 so at least no nw. Maybe he is trying to regress from doing wi/wo last week. Who knows? At least I got a good night sleep cause I could not function yesterday! I went to bed at 10 way early for me. Hope nap time is good for both of us today. A nice long one ;)
