What is your 8 month old's nap schedule?
« on: October 04, 2007, 15:25:08 pm »
For those of you with babies around the 8 month mark, what are their nap schedules like?

My daughter seems to be revising her routine, and I'm unable to find a pattern yet, so I thought it would help to see what the rest of you are doing.

Thanks!

My lo is just over 8 months, and has always been a semi-short napper (rarely over 1.5 hours, most often between 1 hour and 1h 20 mins)  I think she must have a shorter-than-average REM cycle, because as long as she gets at least one hour, she wakes happy and will NOT go back to sleep under any circumstances.  Because of this, she is still on 3 naps, with a total daily nap time of approx 2.75 - 3.25 hours.  This week I started working on extending her awake time VERY SLOWLY, from 2:30 to 3h (I tried before, went too fast, and got into an OT mess).  Today we are on 2h 35 mins before putting down in crib (so I'm assuming about 2:45 A time).

So our routine goes something like this:

6:15 Wake
6:45 BF
7:45 Solids
8:50 in crib for nap
10:00 Wake
10:45 BF
11:30 Solids
12:35 in crib for nap
1:45 - 2 pm Wake (I hope she goes this long)
2:15 BF (I reduce her feeding intervals in the afternoon to work in 5 bf's before bedtime)
I give the third solid meal either here or just after her catnap, depending on what we're doing for the day.
Anywhere from 3:30 - 5:30 out in stroller in the park for a walk, I base this on when she woke from Nap #2.  She will usually catnap, I let her sleep anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour depending on how much nap time she has had that day)
5:15-5:30 cluster feed
6:15 - 6:30 cluster feed
6:45 bedtime
She has been having some NW's lately, anywhere from 11 - 1 am (i think she's becoming aware of her wet diapers that did not bother her before).  She has always had a night feed between 2-4 AM, 2 nights ago she slept thru but last night I did not cluster feed her and she woke for it.

Sometimes (like when she did not take the night feed) she will wake between 5:30-6, but that is usually on a day after we have had problems, like big poops interrupting the nap.

Hope this helps!

I was just coming on here to read what other's schedule is like for their 8 monther aswell!!  ;D
But I'll give you what's been working for us this week that a friend suggested to us!!  AND..it's helping the night wakings I've been having since birth!!

7- wake up/BF
8/8:30- solids
9 - 10 Nap - I wake her up so she doesn't sleep longer
11 - BF
11:30ish - Solids
12 Nap till whenever she wakes up...anywhere from 1:30 till 3. No later than 3 though.
3 - BF
5:45/6 - Solids
7 - BF and To bed!!! :)

She has still been waking a couple times in the night but I'm not needing to BF her back to sleep which has been a struggle forever!!! This is super exciting for me!  3 nights and no BF!!!!

My ds is 9 mos old now, but he's been on the same routine for almost 2 mos, give or take a little.  I'll give our routine here:
7:30/45 out of bed (may be awake already and chatting in crib, or sometimes still asleep), change and have bottle
8:30 have breakfast with dd and myself
9:30/45 nap for 1 hr-1 hr 20 mins
11:30 bottle
12:30 lunch with us
1:45-4:00 (occassionaly a 3 hr nap) nap
bottle upon waking
5:30 dinner with us
7:00 bottle
7:30 bed

He would happily take a long morning nap if I let him, given the right amount of A time.  Currently, with about 2 hrs of A time in the morning, he wouldn't sleep a full 2 hrs anyway, but this shorter morning nap works best so that we can get errands/playgroup/etc done in the late morning/early afternoon hours, and then the kids can nap at the same time in the afternoon and I can have some me time  ;).

Here is another thread you can look through.  It may be long, but you can skim and see if anything pops out that helps:
