My lo is just over 8 months, and has always been a semi-short napper (rarely over 1.5 hours, most often between 1 hour and 1h 20 mins) I think she must have a shorter-than-average REM cycle, because as long as she gets at least one hour, she wakes happy and will NOT go back to sleep under any circumstances. Because of this, she is still on 3 naps, with a total daily nap time of approx 2.75 - 3.25 hours. This week I started working on extending her awake time VERY SLOWLY, from 2:30 to 3h (I tried before, went too fast, and got into an OT mess). Today we are on 2h 35 mins before putting down in crib (so I'm assuming about 2:45 A time).
So our routine goes something like this:
6:15 Wake
6:45 BF
7:45 Solids
8:50 in crib for nap
10:00 Wake
10:45 BF
11:30 Solids
12:35 in crib for nap
1:45 - 2 pm Wake (I hope she goes this long)
2:15 BF (I reduce her feeding intervals in the afternoon to work in 5 bf's before bedtime)
I give the third solid meal either here or just after her catnap, depending on what we're doing for the day.
Anywhere from 3:30 - 5:30 out in stroller in the park for a walk, I base this on when she woke from Nap #2. She will usually catnap, I let her sleep anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour depending on how much nap time she has had that day)
5:15-5:30 cluster feed
6:15 - 6:30 cluster feed
6:45 bedtime
She has been having some NW's lately, anywhere from 11 - 1 am (i think she's becoming aware of her wet diapers that did not bother her before). She has always had a night feed between 2-4 AM, 2 nights ago she slept thru but last night I did not cluster feed her and she woke for it.
Sometimes (like when she did not take the night feed) she will wake between 5:30-6, but that is usually on a day after we have had problems, like big poops interrupting the nap.
Hope this helps!
