27 month old nap: takes forever to fall asleep.
« on: October 08, 2007, 19:13:41 pm »
My DD is 27 months old and sleeps from 7:30 (asleep by 8) to 7 on average. ( Nap at 1:00-1:30)
For several months, it has been taking her longer and longer to fall asleep ( falls asleep 1-2 hours later for 1-2 hrs)
I tried putting her to bed at 2:00 to see if that would help...no difference, she just slept later.
Actually, we found that putting her to bed earlier at 1:00 seemed to help temporarily.

1 month ago we weaned the binky by cutting the tip off, so she has them in her bed without a nipple. I think part of the issue now is her learning to self soothe.

I feel bad keeping her in her bed when it gets to her being in there for 1-2 hours before falling asleep.
Not alot of crying, mostly playing. I'd like her to continue to nap for her to stay up for her Dad to come home.
Should I put her to bed at 8:00? Any suggestions?Probably normal?
Thanks in advance.

I would try a much earlier nap time say between 12.30 and 1
that will give her plnety of time to fall asleep and not mess with bedtime....am no expert but sounds maybe a bit OT?

I was going to say the same ,try moving the nap earlier ,if you noticed a difference with moving it to 1.00 then try and gradually move it earlier again so she gets more A time before bed
