Habit or hungry?
« on: October 20, 2007, 22:58:12 pm »
The book says that if a baby is continually waking at the same time at night then it is just a habit, not that he is hungry.  What if he isn't waking the same exact time (becaues I haven't quite given him a consistent bedtime yet) but he is waking every 3 hours on the dot.  Is this habit or is he hungry?  (he is only 6 wks)

at 6 weeks 3 hours is not that un normal. Are you feeding every 3 hours? In fact feeding every 3 hours only at 6 weeks is quite good going. If your baby is that regular it might be a good time to start a solid bedtime and wake up time.

Well he has been known to go 5 hours (and even 6 hours) quite easily, so the 3 hour thing is throwing me off.  Last night I cluster fed and df so he would be good to go for the night.  He did wake up about 3 1/2 hours... i put his binky in and he went another hour. (5 hours) Then he went another 3 1/2 hours and I put his binky in and he went an hour again (So i fed him at 7:30 am)
Was it wrong for me to put the feeds off??
