Not sure if "co-sleeping" is working either
« on: October 20, 2007, 22:25:58 pm »
??? Bella's been waking every night, which you know is not atypical for her. It has been better since co-sleeping but each night it seems to be more restless and she's got longer periods of time where she can't "unwind" (the only word I can think of to describe it) during her sleep. It usually happens around 3 a.m.  It's still only like 10-15 mins. (as opposed to 2+ hrs.) but I'm kinda concerned.  :-\   Any ideas? She's also in the process of changing from 2 to 1 naps. Do you want me to post her routine? Wendee

Hey Wendee.... yes please can you tell me what her routine is like during the day?

Also wanted to say that its not uncommon for them to be "restless" in the middle of the night. When they are in REM sleep there is lots of moving around.. this is where they have dreams. Sometimes when I can't sleep, I come to the tv room & put the "Bella channel" on & she's moving about but her eyes are closed. I still think 10-15mins is far better than 2hrs of screaming... do you?

Sorry Wendee... do you want to co-sleep or is she still waking up at night as often & as long as she was? You could try 30mins morning nap & pm nap no more than 3hrs later so that it will be a little longer cause she could be waking up from not getting enough daytime sleep.

How have the last few nights been? I think I might have mentioned this before... she could just be moving around in her sleep.

I love co-sleeping. She's still waking probably 5x a night (now it's earlier but I imagine it's cuz she wants to be sleeping in my bed.) Once I move her she sleeps longer but still up for like 20 mins. at 3 a.m.  She is teething and has a cold that we're waiting for to turn into something else (drs. words not mine). She's still drinking like crazy during night though, too. She acts like she's dying of thirst.  She's drinking about 24 oz. of rice milk during the day with some water and very little juice. Her eating solids is ok but slowed down (I think cuz she doesn't feel good).  About how much sleeping should she be doing during the day total cuz I've been having them wake her up so she'd sleep at night.  ::) Good grief, you'd think I'd have this figured out by now. Her sleep is more deep since the co-sleeping though so it's better for her, I think. Wendee

Hi Wendee-

It sounds like things are coming along quite nicely.  With a regular 3 am waking, it seems to be quite habitual.  Is she able to put herself back to sleep or does she need some help?

I wouldn't really get too worried about fixing it yet (if you even can at this point) until after she's over the TM and illness.  Regarding her fluids, are you offering her the water and she just isn't taking it?  Since she's ill, you could always try to add a bit of juice in there to make it a bit more appetizing.  Just a thought anyway...

Hope she's better soon. :)
