How to Wean Totally to Bottle Feeding?

I am currently part part feeding, but am contemplating just bottle feeding as bubs has been frequently refuisng the breast (crying/pulling off/thrashing). Just need some advice as to how to do this without pain. Do I just drop a feed each day for 6 days?

Is there a reason that your lo is reacting to the breast like that? I would first rule out thrush/reflux/constipation etc.
It sort of depends on the person. With both of mine when I weaned I planned on going very slowly, but ended up getting impatient and just went cold turkey on the nursing and pumped just enough off for comfort.

Hi there, I agree it is good to rule out any medical problems, maybe if you post on the breastfeeding board, you would get some tips on how to manage this in the meantime, so you can feed as successfully as possible x

hi can you also post your routine for us? sometimes the routine may be the reason for babies not wanting to eat/nurse as they used to.

Hi - how old is your lo? I did combo feeding (BF and bottle with EBM) with my lo until 4.5 months - work made it too difficult to keep up with pumping, and DS started to prefer the bottle as it let him get on with the more interesting stuff more quickly :-) I agree that you should make sure there aren't any medical problems. I did like grahamsmama...started out gradually, but eventually turned to the pump for relief...it worked well and I had very little discomfort.
