diaper dilemma
« on: November 17, 2007, 20:34:44 pm »
hello,

i am finding that even though i put my 9 wk old LO to bed at 7-8 and DF her at 10 or 11, she consistently wakes up at 3 with a soaking wet diaper.  i can change it and she is pretty easy to get back to sleep, but then wakes hungry at 4 or 5 (pretty much exactly 6 hrs from DF time).

i'm putting a bunch of diaper cream on her before putting her to bed.  is there anything else i can do to keep this from waking her up?

i was thinking about moving her DF to 9, 6 hrs from her 3:00 wake time, but i also don't want to start any bad habits.  and i'd love for her (and me) to get a solid 6 hrs of sleep.  any suggestions???

I got a good suggestion from these boards to try a diaper one size bigger.  Pampers Baby Dry are the most absorbent I have tried.  I usually cloth diaper, but these were worth it for the overnights.

Works really well, most of the time - every once in a while, now that she's older, she will not wee for a while and save it up...but most of the time she goes all night without changing.

Ordinarily she wears a 3, but we put her in a 4 for overnight.  I guess yours is probably in a 1 or a 2 normally?

what a helpful suggestion!  we use size 1 pampers during the day, so i'm gonna get some size 2's and see if that helps her out.

I agree with the one size bigger 100%.  I also found that using store brand diapers at night doesn't work so well since they don't seem to feel as dry when wet as the pampers baby dry.  Thses are what I use as well.
