19 months -stoping bottle before nap-how?
« on: November 06, 2007, 04:54:40 am »
hi there
hope you can give me some advise. I'm planing a 5 weeks trip in a few months to a nother country and decided to stop the bottles before. Lo is still getting two.  her routine: wake - 7 ish, 12 - lunch, then play. 1:30 - bottle of milk, she usually fall's a sleep on it, then we put her to bed. sleeps for an hour max. (sometimes not falling a sleep after the bottle and we put her to bed awake and leave, she'll take 10-30 min to fall asleep) 7:30 - bed time. usually sleeps well.
before her bottle she doesn't ask for it. she could play and play if we let her but then be dead tired by dinner time. if she does see the bottle, she'll cry for it. she doesn't drink much milk during the day. (doesn't like yogurt)
i know i have to change her nap routine but not sure how. Lo is a text book toddler.
any sagestions will be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

can she have the naptime btl a little earlier and out of her bedroom.that way she won't fall asleep on the btl and by feeding out of the room will break the association with sleep/btl.
when we weaned DD off her btls at around 18 mths we just went cold turkey and she had a few day where she was on/off with her milk but soon realised that her milk was now in sippy cups and never looked back.

hi and thanks!
yes, she never had the bottle in her bedroom. today was the first day we didn't give her the bottle. i put her to bed a little closer after lunch, read her a book and put her to bed. it took her 10 min to fall asleep. she said "babu" only one time and that was it! i couldn't believe it! my husband and i were so afraid of today but she surprised us!
hope it'll be as easy tomorrow to.
thanks again!

thanks. i will. it's been a while now and she's doing really well. her hap now is better and longer.
our next challenge is in Jan when the last bottle, the one she's getting before badtime, is going to leave us. (i want to give her enough time to get use to be without it before our trip in Feb)
thanks again, so much!

I'll bet you will have no problems ;).I was dreading getting rid of DDs bedtime btl when we went cold turkey but she did really well when she ralised she could still have a cuddle time even though her milk was in a sippy cup.
