NW for poo every night!?
« on: November 21, 2007, 12:11:43 pm »
My 2mth wakes between 4.30 and 5.30 every morning scrunching up trying to poo! He seems to be in discomfort and cries, I try to bicycle his legs which eventually calms him down but he continues to try to poo until his bottle at 7am - he cries on and off for that period... can anyone help??  :-\

I have the same problem with my four month old. She wakes at 3 am and will not go back to sleep until she poops or toots! This can sometimes take until 7 am. So please let me know if you get any help!

Hi there, when your lo does poo, is it hard or soft? Some babies do have this kind of restless period anyway, if they are colicky. What does your routine look like? Maybe someone can help if its a routine issue xxx

Her poo is really soft and she has no problems pooping during the day. She was colicky but has been over that for a few months. I just posted her schedule in another post (4 month old - nighttime wakings out of whack) b/c she's has some strange wakings the past few weeks. I'm pretty sure her daytime schedule is ok.

My lo had the same problem for a little while, was advised to manipulate in a circular motion just in and above the left hip you can press quite hard this can help them to pass there poo.
There is one last option that i was told about which is to get some petroleum jelly and manipulate the bum hole but if you do that keep your self out of the firering line

I have also used the masage on the tummy technique but remember to work clockwise left to right as going the otherway slows everything up more. I also have given my little boy some mushed prunes to great effect. So when old enough for solids, worth a try.
