Move from crib to "big girl" bed

I have 26-month old twin girls who still sleep in their cribs (they sleep in different rooms).  We have been wondering when we should move them out of their cribs & into "big girl" or toddler beds.  We are moving in June of '08, so I'm not sure if it's better to wait until after the move or get it started now.  The other issue is, between moves we will be in a hotel for about a month, so I also have to worry about what the girls will sleep in during that time as well.  So you can see my dilemma ...

Mine is 27ish months.  I just changed her crib to a toddler bed today.  She thought climbing out would be fun.  Would they be willing to share a hotel bed?

both my dd`s went in a big bed at around 18months but we have a removable bedguard so they didnt fall.maybe then you could just attach one of those to the sides of the hotel beds

  I would make the switch a least a month before the move to the hotel. At least that way you can sort out any issues that may come up and they will be used to the bed and when you move into the hotel it's not all new to them.
 DS is 27 months and just moved into a bed...I too found the bed guard helped a lot.
 Good idea about putting one on the hotel bed.
