How does a typical day look like? How does he get to sleep?

well i've never kept a log and i was going to start this week but he started his 3m growth so this is more a ? for as soon as its over. also i should say that he cant fall asleep on his own yet but i just got him sleeping alone at nights so i know thats something else we have to work on soon

i'd say wake 8-9am, nap 11-12pm for maybe 30-40m then for the rest of the day his naps are pretty short although more freq. except for this week he needs to be walked to sleep (other wise he'll get more and more tired).

should i wait till after growth and then log and ask again?

No, you can stay  ;D

The reason the naps are short is because they are induced by rocking. I found that rocking induced sleep just isn't deep enough to "survive" the next jolt, no chance. So they get more and more tired throughout the day and are eventually overtired and even when placed in the cot won't sleep longer than 30min.

I'd advise you to have a look at this:

Routines 3-6 months

and to get him to sleep here:
