11.5 mo very quick question re: nap
« on: January 18, 2008, 18:55:52 pm »
hi,
my 11.5 mo dd's usual sleep times are:
6am- wake
9:30-10:15am - nap1
2-3pm - nap2
6:30pm - to bed
7pm - asleep

sometimes she wakes up at 5:15-ish am, then her timings shift up by about 30min
i limit her nap durations to a total of 1hr45min for both naps put together, as any more than that and she has nw.

today her routine has got a bit wonky:
5am- wake
7:20- 9am - nap1 while bf !!!! i fell asleep along with her !! so mom and daughter both had a nice long nap!!
2pm - nap2

she is sleeping right now, in nap 2.

when should i wake her? should i let her sleep for the one hour like she normally does? or should i wake her early/ late?

am a bit confused ???

would be grateful for some guidance :)

thanks/ sudhi

Hi Sudhi - was going to post advice but realised too much time has elapsed  ::)

how did Anya go?  some days you just have to go with it, and get back on track the next day.  If you find you get antoher ew the next day, that would be due to the early first nap the day before.  To get out of the cycle, try to keep her up as long as you can, and then limit her nap to 45mins if it is too far from the normal time.  then about 3hrs later offer teh pm nap.  that way she can get back on track

hth.

let me know hwo you got on.

hi,
me again. similar situation again :(
dd got up at 3:30am, then refused to sleep till 5am.
then slept till 8am.

result : mom totally confused about nap times for the day.

so what i have done is that i have put her for a nap at 11:45am. will limit to 30 to max of 45min.
i.e. wake at 12:15~12:30max

then 2nd nap at 3:30. should i limit that to 45min as well? dont want to move out the night sleep time as i go to gym soon after she sleeps.

 :( :( sudhi

no sudhi I wouldn't limit it to 45, but maybe no more than an hour and a half.  you may well find that she is tired anyway and can't stay up the normal A time before night time bed.

I know it's hard, but when that happens again, I would wake her before 8am.  say 7/7.30, that way she gets used to the routine.  I did that this mroning.  she woke at 4, coldn't get back down, so I fed her, asleep around5.30 I think, then up at 7.  that way I can kind of keep her on track. you'll find she is tired from the nw anyway.

hth!!

hi aly,
well heres how our day went:
dd slept at 11:45am. after 45min, i picked her up, sang/ rocked/ took her about/ played her fav song book, but poor thing just flopped about here and there. so i thought i would see how much she would sleep. and she slept and slept and slept and slept... till i finally woke her at 1:45pm  ???

then i put her to bed for the night at 6:30pm.

now i am expecting some nw...  :( :(

but i totally get you, the next time a late morning happens after a nw, i will wake her up at 7am-ish so that there is some sanity in the day.

lets see how tonight goes :), thanks for your help!

easy to say get her up at 7, when all you want to do is sleep in too!!!  it's a hard one.

you might be suprised.  Was she ok with that bedtime? not too cranky?
