Success?

Hi, I'm new to this, but have posted on the BF board about my 8 month old's 2-hourly NW and feedings. Just wanted to share for any other new people, as I am amazed!

He has gone down for his nap after seemingly being up for a huge fight: Rolling all over the cot, blowing raspberries, giggling, kicking his legs frantically...

Without a sound.

The other night I hid behind the cot and watched him go to sleep too. Good grief!

Not sure about the BF / NW, but < tiny voice> do you think the ability to do this for naps and initial bedtime might eventually cross over to cover the nights? I've been doing PU / PD for a week, not religiously because of first tooth and illness, but the majority of the time.

His routine is similar to the sample EASYs for babies of his age, but he likes to eat little and often. Can't get many solids down him at once and really want to avoid the HV's suggestion of complete withdrawal of BF / CC / CIO all night. Is there hope that this gentler way is working? Do you tackle day sleeping first?

Thank you

xx Anneliese

For my dd, night sleep was always easier than day sleep.  That said, every baby is different, and good sleep leads to more good sleep, so if he begins to nap well during the day, he is likely to sleep better at night.

Does he generally have trouble napping?

He has never had trouble napping on the move, and in short bursts - in pushchair / car-seat etc... and I'm so tired that we had been in the habit of cuddling up in my bed for BF and sleep  :-[ He always woke at 45 mins for quick BF before going back off for another 45. That was the "good" nap.

Trying to change that though, and insisting he sleeps in the cot after a little nap routine. They are usually short as he's not used to it, but I tried wake to sleep with that last nap and got 90 minutes!  :)

YEAH on w2s success!!!  Transitioning to all sleep in the cot will be a rough process, but it will definitely be worth it!  Great job!!
