I KNOW the paci is an issue but am not prepared to wean it, everything else is way too hard atm and that is my saviour in the car , for settling etc so I need to consider sorting this out with paci. Also so many dont sleep train and are addicted to paci and STILLsleep!

Ah, Bryony I thought of you when I read this post  ;) :-*

Michelle, I know you said you tried everything...does that include W2S?  I tried this for Luke, who is (was? I hope?) a notoriously bad sleeper, and it really worked wonders for his naps.  Actually, his am nap has always been the better one, and I had good success with W2S for that one. The later naps it didn't help much. Went in around 30m and kept a firm hand on his back to get him back to sleep. And using a paci really did help with w2s cause you can stick it in at the moment she is a little roused. Hth a little?

Mackenzie was a short napper, no exceptions, from about 11 weeks on. I did what I could to extend them (adjust A times, W2S, pu/pd, pat/shh, etc) but could only do so much with another kiddo running around. I seriously just gave up around 6 mo and learned to live with it. It all changed when she was about 8 mo old. She had recently dropped the catnap and her remaining 2 naps magically extended to 1 hr 15 min every single time. I think in her case, it was mostly developmental. Dropping the catnap must have helped but she couldn't handle the increased A time on such short naps until she got a little older.

I don't think the paci was a problem in our case. She's been hooked on it since birth and her naps still resolved themselves before she was able to replug herself.

Sorry its taken me ages to reply!
Yes I have tried w2s, had luck about twice in 7 mos, mostly tho I go in too soon shes in deep sleep and won't take paci, or I go in and end up waking her, have sat in the room and she hits 45 mins, opens eyes wide and in 2 secs is totally awake, I have tried walking pacing jiggling back to sleep but she just cranes her neck to see me and won't go back to sleep.
Am at my tether's end atm, I need her to have at least 1 good nap a day, I need a break and am just fed up. Going to post this on on health and medical but she VERY often wakes to do a poo which I just dotn get! Why does she need a poo when napping!?!??! I have tried longer A times too, no joy, today I tried 2.5 hrs before first nap then almost 3 before next nap both have been short grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Michelle - forgive me if you have posted it earlier in the thread - but what is your main concern?  Are the 45 min naps affecting her night time sleep?  If so then the trick is to pack in more naps to make sure she is not OT by bedtime. If it's not affecting her night time sleep then TBH I wouldn't worry. I know it's not as nice for you if you don't get longer naps for you to rest - but it does tie you less to the house as 45 min naps can be taken on the go a lot more easily!

ahhh I feel I try everything and it doesnt work. I think that sometimes when she's going longer at night - she can't regulate herself during the day so is more hungry and naps just end up getting in the way. I also try different A times. Sometimes I do just go with the flow and probably keep her up longer than I should. Although last night, she surprised me and eat at 10pm, 2am and 4am. Previous few days she was going from midnight to 6am.

Some days, it's always 50 minute naps. Other days it's a combo of 30 minute to close to 1 hour naps. Some days, I get a long nap in the afternoon, but seems rarely lately. My LO was also diagnosed with reflux and burps a lot, so I think that also plays into it for me.

It can be so tiring. The nurse at Dr.'s office so OH my taking cat naps all day is NO way to live "lol". She said you got to get her on a schedule. Recommended a small nap in the morning, a long one in the afternoon and and possibly a cat nap at night. She made it sound so easy. I told her I keep her up 2 hours at at time and she was like hmmm that doesn't seem like a enuf time. My LO is usually getting kind of cranky by 2 hours, although she does end up staying up later than 2 hours lots of times. Than she gets all mad when I try to get her to sleep. Heck sometimes she ends up soothing on some of her formula when she's real tired. It's so tiring tiring trying to figure out the EXACT formula as far as when she needs to go down ect. ahhhhh

My LO will be 6 months old February 13th
I sometimes am successful at extended the nap in the afternoon. Having an almost 22 month old around doesn't help though.

My Lo has been a constant 45 minute napper since 10 weeks old. (he`s now 7 months  :(  ) I also tried everything-what worked best for us was to go into his room 3 minutes before he woke up and then put him back to sleep by patting his back.  For the past 2 months I have basically given up since he was completely happy after his short nap and can do 2.75 hours A time regardless.  The past week all naps have been at least 1 hr 15 minutes and some are almost 2 hours and I don`t go into his room at all..  I am thrilled but terrified that the short naps will come back.  Good Luck everyone!

I tried doing 2 hour A times today...I got a 2 one hour naps out of 4.  It's amazing how quick those one hour naps are...especially when I'm watching two other kids besides my own.  If I didn't write down his naps; I would never have even thought it was an hour long!   ;)  We'll see how tomorrow goes.  thank you yaya.
