Any ideas for a 7mo who only wants to walk/stand?
« on: February 06, 2008, 16:20:50 pm »
Hi,

Has anyone got any ideas - my ds only wants to stand or walk - assisted of course.  He will sit and play for about 5/10 mins but has now developed a sort of grunt/cry which means I want to walk, and off we trot around the lounge!!

I'm really glad he is keen to explore, but its doing my back in and I can't get anything else done!!  I have a door bouncer which he loves.

Anyone else had this or any ideas??  I understand that walkers actually delay their walking (which I don't want to do) and they are pretty big and my lounge isn't?    :)

Can you stand him up next to the sofa and leave books and toys all along to encourage cruising on his own? You can then put some kitchen chairs nearby for him to walk along. I did this with my DD and she would cruise around the room for hours but my friend only took her DD around by assisiting from 8 months and she never cruised and didn't walk until 14 months so she had about 5 months of spending most of the day walking her LO around and got backache!!

What a great idea  - never thought about the kitchen chairs!!   He does the sofa (only one way) so maybe I can encourage him to go round in a circle.

Thank you - I knew someone would have a brainwave!!!
