Any thoughts on this?
« on: April 08, 2008, 02:01:28 am »
Bedtime for Mouse means 1-3 stories in her room, turn on her "nigh night" cd.  Then I can tell her that I need to go feed the kitties, check on daddy, or whatever and that I will be back to check on her.  No problem.  She will snuggle Dawggy, "read" or whatever she does.  I go back a bit later and she is asleep.   :)  When Dave tries the same thing, there is much wailing when she hears he is leaving.   Usually ends with them snuggling on the couch and she falls asleep there.  Since I am home at bedtime the majority of the time, it's no big deal for me to put her to bed, but I do work some evenings.  We have no problems with the snuggle to sleep ocassionally, I'm just curious if anyone has any theories as to why such a difference.   ???

its a mom/dad thing.

We have the same thing. Mostly because DD knows what she can get away with, with daddy vs mommy and she plays that.

same as above.... there is just so much difference between what she will do for me (including bedtime) vs what she does for her dad!

i find that dh is much less creative at finding excuses to leave the room but still being warm and reassuring, therefore Ethan wants to keep him close.  With me, i can do the bath, story, take to bed and tuck in and go!

Same here.  Ben doesn't want daddy to take him to bed.   ::)  I would fight it, but DS2 is asleep first and I certainly don't want him to wake up!

What about if hubby sits in a chair in her room, but she's in her bed whilst she falls asleep?  Put some distance and limits on things?
