33 mth old screaming at bed time
« on: April 09, 2008, 15:37:03 pm »
For the last 2 nights our 33mth old daughter has been screaming at bed time. It seems she is frightened of something. We have tried to ask her what is happening, she doesn't seem to be able to express what it is. The only thing I can think of is that she was watching tv with a relative and maybe she saw something that has scarred her?

Can anyone offer some advise?

Do you have a night light in the room ? or does she have any soft toys that could keep her safe and look after her in the night ? maybe you could choose one together .

Going to bed screaming or waking screaming?  Probably extra time during the wind down time if it's going to bed screaming.  Also, you can sit in a chair across the room can help as your presence may help calm her.  Both of my boys went through periods of being afraid at bedtime.  I would ask her questions too, in effort to extract what's upsetting her.

TV has often been the cause of our bedtime fears.
