I read somewhere..(here on BW & googled it) that is asolutely safe to mix cos milk with formula..and do it gradually until its al cws milk.

Colin's doctor suggested that we try that if he rejected cow's milk. He didn't so we never did that but I just wanted you to know that it had been recommended to us too :)

Hi Vanessia,

Sorry to hear about your sleepless nights, its the same here. So I totally understand where you are.

I did the mixing of formula and cows milk for about 10-14 days. Ds normally takes about 6oz of milk. SO I started with 5 oz formula and 1 oz cows milk, for 2 days then increazed to 2 oz cows for about 3 days then half an half for another 3 days and so on.

The transition was no problem at all.

I don't give fridge cold milk, I actually put say the 6oz in the microwave for about 40 seconds (in a glass not the baby's bottle) just to take the edge off. Although sounds like almost everyone does straight form the fridge.

the transition was a lot more smoothr than I expected and I am so happy to ahve done it, life is so much easier.

We did this with my dd and it went really well. She drank cow's milk for a while and then suddenly refused it again. Since that day she will not drink it at all, though gets plenty of calcium in other foods so not really a problem.

Hi, this is exactly what we did with both our children. DD because she refused to go from formula to cow's milk cold turkey. Think DS would have done (he down's his straight from the fridge!) but we did it the same way as it worked so well. What we did was over a month or so, gradually decreased the formula/increased cow's milk. So for example (with an 8oz bottle):
Week 1: 6oz formula, 2 oz cm
Wk 2: 4oz each
Wk 3: 6 oz cm and 2 oz formula
Wk 4: total cow's milk.
Worked really well for us. HTH
