18 mo nap time
« on: April 27, 2008, 14:03:02 pm »
Hello to everyone, I hope to have some help here.
Chiara is 18th mo old, we are on one nap starting from 11 mo 3 hours on average). But one week ago she started to refuse here nap. Usually she went to sleep at 1-1.30 pm. Now it is not possible to put her to sleep before 3 pm, with crying. She sleeps two hours and always wakes up in a very bad moode, that is unusual too. Not possible to put her to sleep at night before 10 pm. In the morning she wakes up between 7 and 8 am.
I tried to jump her nap, but she needs it, as at dinner time she is very nervous, she doesn't eat and she is creazy! Do you ahve any suggestion? Thank you!

Hi Danielina

She does seem a little on the young side to give up her nap. If she's waking around 7am, you might want to try putting her for a nap around 12-12.30pm as she might be too overtired by 1-1.30pm.

Take her out in the morning, lots of running around, etc...so that she's nice and tired for a nap. Then do a longer windonw routine (do lunch around 11ish) and start the windown routine around 12pm....put her in the cot at 12pm.

When you say she refuses her nap, does she start crying for you? Do you pick her up straight away or do you help or have you tried wi/wo for nap?

I agree that its not ideal to have a nap as late as 3pm cause then it leads to a late bedtime and she wakes up in the morning still tired and with a sleep debt as she has slept less overnight.

Let me know what you think
Layla
