10.5 month old fighting naps and standing up in crib
« on: April 23, 2008, 17:41:34 pm »
My dd is 10.5 mo old and we were doing great on a 3 hour wake time and 2 1.5-2 hour naps per day.  This week, suddenly, it all changed and we're fighting both naps and only sleeping 45 minutes-1 hour at each.  I know 45 min means undertired usually...so should I extend wake times to 4 hours?  or is this a sign that it's time for the 2-1 nap switch?  Also, she's been standing up in her crib and that's making nap time much harder too.  Does that mean she's fighting naps or that she just wants to stand up?

Here's her normal schedule up to now:
7:00 wake
7:30 bottle
9:00 breakfast
10:00
11:30  bottle
1:00 lunch
2:00 nap
3:30 bottle
5:00 dinner
6:00 bath
6:30 bottle
7:00 bedtime

Thanks for your help!
Laurie

We are having the same issue right now as well with our 10.5 mth old spirited DD. She goes down well for her am nap but we only let her sleep 45 minutes...that way she is more tired earlier for her pm nap.  This is only day 2 of the new routine and I can hear her in her crib right now, still not asleep.  You can't elminate a nap this early so best you can do is try to cut the am one short and hope the pm one is 1.5 hours.  Yes, i let DD stay up 4 hours now...any sooner and she won't nap for long.

Update:
DD is still alseep, almost 1.5 hours.
Her schedule was screwy today as she woke up at 7:30 instead of 6:30 as we put her to bed too late last night.  But she took a nap from 10:45 to 11:30 with us waking her.  Then went down at 3:00..it took her 10 minutes to settle on her own but fell asleep by 3:10 and still alseep at 4:17. I would still like to put her to bed earlier for her pm nap so maybe tomorrow she will be up at 6:30 again as I will put her to bed at 7:30 tonight.  That way she will go down for her am nap at 9:45 or so instead.  Normally I would let her stay up for close to 4 hours if she wanted to.

Good luck!
