Problem with catnap
« on: April 25, 2008, 21:00:58 pm »
Hi,

I really need your help with catnap.
I'm DS is 5 month old. The problem is that I cannot put him for catnap: he cries and cries and cries...
I do PU/PD, but it doesn't work for catnap, but it does for first nap (second nap is usually outside in stroller).
So after trying to put him for catnap I just put him in a swing to play (he doesn't fall asleep in swing).
Very soon he become fussy and I feed him earlier and usually he falls asleep on my breast because he's too tired...

Please help! I don't know what to do....

Our EASY:

7:00 wake up and feeding (bf)
8:45 - 11:00 Sleep (I do PU/PD)
11:00 feeding (rice cereal + bf)
13:00 - 15:00 Sleep outside in stroller (sometimes he wakes up earlier, so sometimes he sleeps about an hour..)
15:00 Feeding (bf)
16:30 - trying to put him for catnap...
19:00 feeding (rice cereal + bf, sometimes feeding is about 18:00 if he didn't have catnap)
bath
sleep

Could you also go for a walk at this time or even a drive to get him to take a short nap.

My lo is 6 months now and has had trouble with the catnap for ages. He's often ot by this time and can refuse to sleep despite being totally tired. Ive got round it by going for a walk in his pushchair or drive in the car, not exactly great but its the only thing I can do with him once the tiredness takes over and the screaming begins :( Other people have told me the catnap is a freebie really so if he sleeps in his swing or in his pushchair thats fine for this one nap. Luckily lately we've actually been out and about in the afternoon so its easier for him to take his nap in the car or buggy. (I did actually spend 2hrs driving round and round once just to get him his much needed sleep when he was crazy with ot!!!)

My ds always refused the catnap in his crib, so it was always either in the car or in the stroller (which was really nice for me since it got me out of the house ;D)
