"A" time for a 22 month old?
« on: May 12, 2008, 18:54:31 pm »
What is the typical awake time for a 22 month old?  In the last week or 2 we've had a few stinky nap days, where ds wouldn't sleep since apparently I laid him down too early.  Even 15 minutes early can screw everything up, but I can't quite get it right!

We had to run errands today, and here is what our day looked like:

7:00 up
2:00 asleep for nap

We head upstairs for bedtime around 7:45 and then he's usually asleep by 8:15.

Thanks!
Cindy

I asked my friend who's son is just over 2. She said when he was 22 months his schedule was like this:
7:30am awake
2pm-4pm nap
8:30pm bed

Seems similar to yours.

It's different for every kids, I run a daycare and my son is nearing 2.5y. The kids in my daycare are 21 and 29 months. All the kids get up around 6:45 am and will all go down at 12:30 - 1:00 and sleep until 3pm. If I try to push it pass 1 they fall asleep or get tired-energetic.

My big boy is such a wonderful brother to his new sister.
I am truly blessed.

I feel a little thick headed.  Ds has had a runny nose and cough that comes and goes for about a week.  I thought it was allergies, but now I'm almost sure its his teeth!  That could also be causing the stinky naptimes...

He's up early today too!

I'll try some Tylenol today and see what happens...

Thanks!
Cindy

at 24 months we're doing
6:30 wake up
1pm-3:30pm nap
7:30pm in bed [or sometimes a bit later]
I'm working 8am-4pm 5 days a week so it suits me well.

Teething definately affects naps with some kids. My doctor said to give my son a dose of tylenol 20 mins before naptime to help ease the pain and help him sleep. It worked this time around with 4 - 2 year molar coming out together.

This morning he was a cranky pants and I gave him some ibuprofen and that seemed to help.  The front of his shirts and his neck always seem to be wet too.  The ibuprofen should last through naptime.

Today is one of those days when I can't wait until naptime!     :P

Thanks all,
Cindy

Our LO is 20 mths
up between 6-6:30am (I don't get him out of crib until 6:30)
nap between 12:30/1p to about 2:30/3:00 (every so often 3:30)
asleep by 8pm

Ibuprofen always worked better for us then tylenol for teething.
