EASY and growth spurts
« on: May 20, 2008, 16:04:06 pm »
Hi - this is my first post, but I have been lurking for about a month.  I have gotten so much great info and my DS is on a pretty good routine.  He's 12 weeks today and 14 lbs 13 oz.

Yesterday he got a couple of vaccinations, so sleeping was a bit off, and I'm thinking that we will probably have the 3 month growth spurt some time soon.  Any advice on staying on EASY through growth spurts when eating goes to every 2 hours?  (He's exclusively BF.)

I guess we need to stay on track, because soon I will need to be trying to transition to the 4 hour EASY, right?

Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello and Welcome! :) :) :)

4 hour EASY usually occurs between 4-5 months.
Not all lo's transition at the same time.
They all kind of go at their own pace.

Check out our EASY FAQ's for more info (located at the top of the EASY home page)

For growth spurts, you try to keep things as they are.
Up their intake per bottle/feed.
If you know your lo is going through a growth spurt, you may want to feed, rest for a few minutes and then try again for a quick top up to help get your lo to the next feed.

A growth spurt doesn't necessarily mean your lo will want to eat every 2 hours.
I would just try to keep things about the same as normal....feed a bit early or so if needed, but I would focus more on giving extra at each feed.
Your lo may wake up once extra at night and that's fine too.
