how to get ds to take more of bottle in middle of night

my 4 week old ds has the following routine;

7am, 1030am, 14.30, 18.00, 20.30, 01.30, 03.30

he doesnt wake up as such for his 01.30 and 03.30 feeds but he only takes about 2oz at the 01.30 and at the 03.30 he takes about 3 oz.  at all other feeds during the day he takes anything from 4 to 5.5 oz.

i have tried various things to try to make him take a bit more at the 01.30 feed as I feel if he did that I would get to 5am or later from him.  I have tried a dream feed at about 11pm but he just wont open his mouth, he is probaly a bit young I think.

any suggestions to getting more in to him. i have tried jiggling him, rubbing his chin, opening the bottom of his babygro and nothing. I dont want to go so far as changing his nappy as any time i have to do this he wakes up and stays awake for about an hour and still refuses his bottle.

he has had a bit of a rough week this week, I changed his formula as I am afraid he is LI and he has been a bit cross in the night so I might not try anything for about a week to let him settle a bit.

Hiya Amy, if it was me personally, I would not worry too much while he is so small, purely because at this age it does not sound too unreasonable to have two night feeds esp if he isnt having a dream feed. He goes 5 hrs from 8:30 to 1am, which is really good. you could try cluster feeding in the evening maybe to try and tank him up but my feeling is he may still wake up for a little snack at 1:30, but hey it could work, let me find you a link, but as I said without the DF two night feeds do seem ok for this age

Thats ok Amy, I know what you mean always good to think ahead When he is a little older, I guess you could re evaluate or you may just find that things work themselves out, ie he may nw, but not feed, or just start sleeping longer intervals xxxxx
