short naps...but i've extended A time!
« on: July 10, 2008, 18:17:26 pm »
my lo will be 6 months in 2 weeks. Her naps have gotten shorter and shorter. I've been trying to extend her A time,. She just did 2 hr and 10 min and then slept only 1 hr 10 min. She was clearly ready to go to sleep earlier, should I try to push her a little more? Naps this short are really throwing off her day. I'd like her to do about an hour and a half. Any thoughts?

How frustrating for you!  What happens if you put her to sleep earlier instead of later?  Joey always had shorter A time than felt "normal," but he was a dream napper!

It's even shorter..more like 45-50 min. I think she needs some more A time...I'll try to push it 5 or 10 min tomorrow and see whats happens.

ok 2 hrs A time gets only 1 hour nap.  2 hrs 10-15 min gets 1 hr 15-20 min. nap. I tried 2 1/2 hour A time and she woke up 35 min into nap...I think maybe a little too much. I don't think she's going to nap for more than 1 hr 20 min..is that okay?

i agree with you that she needs longer A times.  sounds like you have tried stretching and have a good idea of how long an A time will get you what kind of nap!  yes 1 hour 20 min for a nap is fine.  maybe try 2 hours 20 min A time??
