Nicola just to let you know that today was a vast improvement, although I have spent all day in our room with Henry, I had an hours break at one point but apart from that it's been all about the naps! I thought if we are ever going to get close to getting over this i'm going to have to be extreme.

He's actually looked more and more tired after each nap! and although it wasn't exactly the right amounts at the right times, it was alot better than it has been, and hopefully the next few days will require a little less hovering from me, I've studied every jolt lol! and will be setting my egg timer to let me know a couple of mins before each is due so I can hopefully catch them.

Most of his sleep was also in his cot with no fussing or much in the way of settling from me, just a few rubs on his tummy :) He has also fed better, probably because of the lack of distractions.

I de-stimulated the room *now theres something I never thought i'd say* I removed anything he could see from his bed, dh thinks i'm nuts! and covered his cot sides with sheets (because oak rails are soooo exciting)

I think it helped because when he did need to nap on me due to a 45min wake up he had to have a sheet over his eyes, strange boy.

So i've decided that 2 August will forever be known as nap day in this house and every year Mummy will stay in her room all day and be waited on by Henry....might have to wait a few years but it will be worth it!!!

I'll probably be up all night now!

Brilliant!!

I read your post on one of the nap threads and posted there too ;)

That's great news :D Is he at all spirited? Might explain the need for blocking out visual stimulation with sheet/removing all toys etc.  LOL @ oak rails are so exciting!! Aren't they just!

Hoping you had a good night too.  Keep up the great work!

Night feed was at 2.30 rather than 4.30? but no big deal.  8)

Spirited? i'm not sure, last time I did the test he came out as textbook/touchy, but then he's changing all the time.

This morning was a nightmare, only two 30min naps between 6.30am and 12pm, but we bunkered down in bed together for the afternoon and managed to squeeze in one 2hr and one 1hr45 before bedtime so not too bad, although tomorrow I don't have the luxury of doing that as dh is back at work so who knows how that will go  :-\

Sending you a big bunch of virtual flowers for your support and advice  :-*

Helen,

It sounds like you are making progress, which is great.  The OT cycle can be really difficult to beat but hang in there.
