You can switch to mostly finger food or let her start practicing with a spoon. We let DD do the spoon herself from the very start, but most don't start getting good at it until after 15 mo (and that's with LOTS of practice). I'd imagine that she probably does want to do it herself and really likes to explore the texture and feel of it...all part of the learning process!
That said, if it gets to the point where she's only playing and not eating, that might be a cue to end the meal because she's done. Keep in mind that their growth slows down a LOT as they reach their first birthday, so she'll start eating less.
