I am so happy to read you can get grobags for 3-6! We have used an American made sleep sack, and Owen is currently in the largest size.  It is quickly becoming too small, and I've been wondering what to do about that.  He hates having blankets, and LOVES his sleep sack.

Stacy, I'm totally with you! I have the biggest monkey boy on the planet, climbing anything and everything in sight! But at age 2yr8mo he has yet to climb out of his crib and I *know* its because the sleep sack won't let him!  ;D Score 1 for mommy!

And for the person who asked: kids get really good at walking and even running in sleep sacks! It does hinder climbing, but they can do just about everything else! My son also hates having his feet covered (he won't wear footy-pajamas, for instance) but he still loves his sleep sack - probably because there's lots of room for his legs to move so he doesn't feel restricted or too hot.
Owen, 12/28/05 7 lb 2 oz

Enjoying the toddler years!

I found one too. Can't believe how long it is! Momtonb&ab I will let you know if I can't figure a way to neatly pin it up a bit  ;) :-*

By the way, do any of you use the ones with the sleeves? My only concern with the grobags is that without the sleeves I worry that he gets cold (in winter, that is), but those sleeves seem so big and bulky. Instead I end up keeping the heat on high, and feeling guilty about the environement :-\  Sometimes I put a blanket on him instead but after an hour it is in a ball at the end of the crib, where it stays...

my thought on the sleeves is this (since i can't sew sleeves i'm not that good :):))  .... as an adult, most time we end up with our arms out from under the blankets, so kids would likely be the same.  in the cool weather we just wear long sleeved jammies.............then they have a layer where they stick out from the sleep sack.

(we do live in canada though and we like to let the house cool down a bit at night, so i do put a little duvet over them when i go to bed in the colder season, and it generally stays put if it is cool)

stacy is right. ... we let our house go to 15 in winter and that is the only time we offer a duvet in the middle of the night.  (and since my gro bags aren't store bought i don't think they are quite as warm as the actual gro bags).   but they do really well just feeling cozy with jammies and sleep sack.

hhhhaaaaaaa, i dunno what our house would be if yours is a meat locker :):):)  but it is true, dh and i sleep well in the cool air, and when the kids were really small we kept the house warm (at the insistance of others) for about 6 weeks because of the babies, but it was foolish, they slept less and we didnt' sleep at all.  now the only problem we have is if it gets too warm in the morning and they still have their duvets on, then they stir a bit.  but mostly, the cooler the air, the happier the sleep :) :)  and stacy, imagine how well you would sleep at MY house ;)

Hi Jess...I found a grobag 18-36 here at just the right time, as Oscar learnt to jump from the Mothercare ones with the snaps on the shoulders and then jump himself free and then hurdle over the cot (CIRC 20 MTHS LOL). I bought two and they are both 1 togs. Oscar is what I call a sweaty betty (he says it now too) and I just add the fleecy sleepsuit underneath in the winter (can be as low as 16 in our house mid winter) and in the height of summer he sleeps in it naked....

Oscar now doesn't use it for naps in the BBB (cot still at nighttime...as transition was a nightmare) any longer as he is sleeping in cotton pants in the day and needs the least possible amount of clothing to get to the potty on time. He did sleep in it in BBB for 6 mths though and I would compare his walking and running in it to the waddle of a penguin.,

so, no worries until toilet training I suppose is my answer.....then even elasicated pj bottoms can be too much to get down on time LOL!

hugs

If it is really cold you can put babylegs on the arms as some extra sleeve warmth  ;)
