Hi, new mom of a 7 month old!
« on: August 29, 2008, 20:03:26 pm »
Hello everyone,

My name is Shawna and I have a 7 month old son named Peyton. I have been following babywise for the last 5 months, but it just isn't working for us since we've introduced solids because Peyton hasn't been getting enough formula. I did some research and I think the EASY plan sounds great. It's similar to what we were doing, but I like the idea of giving formula first then solids 1-1.5 hours later. That way the baby gets all the nutrients from BF or formula. I haven't read the book yet, but I have read a great deal of posts on the board. I ordered the book and it should be here next week sometime. Here is the schedule that we have started out with today:

8am 7 oz formula
9am 3tbsp solids mixed with 3 tsbp fruit
10-12 nap
12 7 oz bottle
1 4tbsp veggie 2 tbsp cereal
2-4 nap
4 7 oz bottle
6 3 tbsp veggie mixed with 2 tbsp cereal 2tbsp fruit mixed with 1 tbsp cereal
8pm 7-8 oz bottle

How does it look?  With splitting the formula and the solids how do you guys do things on the go? I had to go to the store today, so we ended up doing solids 30 min after his lunch bottle. Also, is waking 30 min early or late still considered on schedule? Thanks guys!

Shawna

Hey Shawna,

looks like you are on a pretty good routine already, 30mins, I myself do not consider too off the mark, but I will let the specialists guide.

But just wanted to say welcome and hello.

well if Lo is sleeping fine and happy and active, i would not change a thing, and if on the go, you could carry the feed/mashed food with you...something like banana is quite easy to carry and mash quickly...

Welcome aboard!!!   Your routine looks great to me too!
Being on the go was a pain sometimes...but I'd just carry the powder formula with me (pre-measured) and I'd just find some warm water someplace to mix a bottle/cereal. (the food court at the mall was a place where it's easy to find some warm water. Most restrooms don't have the water get warm enough..I guess to save money?)   There are some jarred baby foods that are oatmeal with fruit...I used those once or twice as well when my dd was that age.  You could aslo put very hot water in a thermos, and then after a couple hours in there it should be cooled down enough to make a bottle.  HTH!
