DD Refusing savory food but loving sweet food!
« on: September 04, 2008, 12:32:56 pm »
Our DD is 7months old, she has been happily eating pureed veg until a few days ago.
I had mixed veg together and added chicken, liver etc and although she loved food I had made 1st time round she is refusing to eat this now. I'm confused.
However she will happily eat pureed or mashed fruit, breakfast oats just not veg!
Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas how I can get her back on track?
I have thought about going back to single veg and see what happens??

Hi there

I am having the same problem as you! I think it must happen to most of us!
See my post on 6 month old stopped eating.

Hope we both get some inspirational advice to get them back on track!

Thanks for advice.
Been reading a little on Baby Lead Weaning, think I will try the veg and other savory food as finger food as she seems very keen to feed herself and see how that goes. DD was 2months prem so at 6months she wouldn't have been ready to feed herself. She loves her ready brek for breakfast so will continue that. Hope it works!

Hi Kel2y - let me know how you go with the BLW - might have a go myself too - don't know much about it but going to have a read up.

Hi Stacey - thanks for the advice. Yet to introduce meat or fish (or anything like lentils, pasta etc) but maybe she'll prefer that as opposed to just veg on their own. Not sure when you can introduce that (she's only 6.5 months but has been weaned for 5 weeks now) - do you know?

Hi there

Yeah, I thought so. Think I'll wait another week or so (she's 7 months on 21st Sept) and see how she goes. Hopefully she'll love that kind of food more than the veg!

Leanne
Just thought I'd let you know savory food seems to be back on the menu today, thank the lord! Lovely Lentils seemed to go down a treat when a few days ago she refused!
The only thing I did differently today was BF an hour & a half before lunch, where as I was only BF an hour or 45mins before. Seems DD was definitely more hungry!
Offered her Broccoli as finger food which she loved, surprisingly. Hope tea time goes as well! Let me know how you get on.

Excellent news. Not so much luck for me though! But she has taken everything that I've given as solid pieces eg bread, cheese, strawberries, grapes!!!!! Think I'll try something like lovely lentils this week too and let you know how I get on.
Fingers crossed!

What time did you BF and do lunch then?
Always so diffiicult to fit it all in!!!!!

Hi there

Your schedule looks identical to ours! Except as my LO is now going to start nursery in a few weeks I have dropped the BF at 10.30 and 3pm for a bottle.

My trouble is that all too often, she's only just woken at 10.30 and therefore the bottle slips to nearer 11 and by 12 she's getting tired again! Little sleepy thing!!!! Will try sticking to 10.30 and then 12 for lunch for a few days to see how that goes. She's never that interested in the veg at 5 either so think its the taste as opposed to not hungry!

Am going to try some sweet potato in a cheese sauce for lunch tomorrow so fingers crossed. Was going to try tonight but was a bit nervous about giving her cows milk in the sauce for the first time before bed. Am sure it will be fine but just incase!

Yay, had some success this evening!

Tried some sweet potato with grated cheese in and she kept coming back for more!!!!
Rewarded her with some yogurt and peach!

Fingers crossed for similar success tomorrow
