Chaunda drinks her milk from bottles usually before naps and bedtime. Although she does also drink milk from bottle downstairs where as it's not right before bedtime. I know i"ll have to work on the before bedtime ones. She does drink water from sippy cups although she drinks it fast I think and dribbles OR will eventually just play with it and spit some of it out.

However, really really having a hard time with the milk thing. Need some opinions.

Just today, she went without milk ALL day until 3PM because she just refused. She would try, but than realize she didn't like it. I have tried MULTIPLE types including straw ones. DOn't get me wrong, it wasn't like she was screaming and crying that she was hungry for milk all day. Although closer to 3pm, she was getting more fussier and madder that I kept trying to give it to her other than her bottle.

DH started getting mad saying he hated the doctors and how they make you do certain things and that she was starving and to feed her. I fought with him a little and said the doctor said I might have to be tough for a few days. I tried to be somewhat tough yesterday but gave in at 10am and today....I just gave in at 3pm. NOTE* Not only would she refuse to drink her milk that i was offering her, she was also not napping well. Naps well most days........ and only napped an entire 1/2 hour today. Everything is off wack now.

She turned one August 13th.

She has to have some milk sooner or later. I tried to stand my ground with DH and told him I just spent doing this until 3pm for nothing and said fine, give me a bottle. she drank 5oz down quickly and is now playing with her sister.

I just dont' know what to do anymore.
I have been trying off and on for awhile now.
I have also giving it a break and than tried again.
I have tried MILLIONS of types of sippy cups and recently a nice straw sippy.

note she doesn't necerasily fall asleep on the bottle and she did eat some food today as a fyi

She is still young, you don't necessarily have to give up the bottle just yet.  Why is your doctor pushing the issue?

My DS had his bottle until 16 months, and then was fine to wean.

I am going to pop this over to the toddler feeding thread  :-*

Ds is 16 months and takes milk only from a bottle! He drinks water, juice, oatmeal from a cup, but milk is still from a bottle.

keep the bottle.  alex always had water from a cup but had this idea that cup = water and bottle = milk.  when i did not want 2 lo having bottles i forced the issue at 19-20 mo and she never took the milk in a cup (just a few sips to pacify me) and then i got busy with liv.  to this day at 5yo she does not drink milk as a beverage - not once. she will sip milk from her cereal by the spoonful and still refuse a cupful even though she does like it. i regret not just leaving her the bottle of milk until she was ready. it does not have to be at 1 or even 2 - the main thing is lo is not walking around with a bottle all day or endlessly.

Mine's 17 months and it's just not a battle I want to do -- it's a no win situation for us. Pick you're battles right?! It comforts him at his nap and bedtime and when he's older I'll try again. To me getting proper sleep and a happy lo is more important than getting rid of the bottle.

Totally agree 100%.   If she is not walking around with the bottle, I don't see it as a big deal for a 12 month old.  My dd still has her morning and bedtime bottle, simply because MOM is not willing to give up that time just yet.  :-[   But she has no real attachment, since the only time she has ever had a bottle (since birth) is when we hold her.  I think she'd give it up in a heartbeat...
I agree with Deb....why is the doc being so firm on this?  I might let it go and try again in a month or so....but in the meantime keep offering the water in the sippy.  She'll get there.

I completely agree with what has been said in previous posts. At 12 months it really is not a big deal if your lo still has a bottle for milk as long as she is not walking around with it all day. My ds had a bottle for his formula until around 19 months when he suddenly accepted it from a sippy cup which he had always refused until that point. I did not push the sippy cup for formula but just kept offering it a couple of times a week and he got there in the end.

Sophie is the same, she will drink wwater or jiuce from a cup, but not milk.

She's the last one, and I can't be arsed about doing everythig by the book anymore!!

In fact, I THINK, although I could be completely wrong, that Tracey said that it's okay to hang on to a bottle until 2, at least for some feeds. Correct me on that if I'm wrong. Has Chaunda a problem with her teeth or something?

(A friend of mine was still on bottles when she started school!!!)
