wanting to play at 1am
« on: October 23, 2008, 19:42:29 pm »
My lo is 5 1/2 mos old.  Last night she woke at 1am and I let her play/fuss for a little while but when it became crying I went in and tried to rock her but all she wanted to do was play - blow raspberries, look around, feel my face - all cute stuff but not at 1am!!!  Every time I tried to put her back in bed she would cry.  Finally dh rocked her after about 1 1/4 hrs of me trying and she went to sleep until 6:15 am.  The night before she woke around 11:30 pm and was up until about 2:00.  I did all of the same except I did end up feeding her in the end, it did not put her to sleep, but I put her in her bed after feeding and she went to sleep.  That night she woke again at 4:30 (her normal feeding time) ate, back to sleep until her normal 7:15 am.  Her schedule usually goes like this (or is supposed to):

between 4-5 am she wakes to eat

7-7:30 wake up
E  solids at 7:30-8:00
A  take big sisters to school
S  9:15ish nap time  (usually until 10:30-11)

E  11:00  (breastfeed)
A
E  Solids
A
S  between 1-2 depending on am nap

E  3-3:30  we have to pick up sister at 3:30 so if she's up by 3 I feed her then, if she sleeps later then I wait until we get home around 3:35
A
E  Solids around 5
A

bedtime routine 6:15-6:30  bath, breastfeed, rock/sing
S  6:30-7 in bed (depending on how long afternoon nap was - some days only 45 min and can't get back to sleep

She will not take catnap I've tried and tried

If she wakes before 5 am to eat I will give her another feed at 9 before nap

She goes down for naps and bedtime awake fine, sometimes will wake and resettle herself at naps, but not usually at night.

She was consistently sleeping from bedtime until 4-5 am, eat and back to sleep until 7-7:30 since about 7 weeks old.  I don't see any teeth yet, she has been rolling over for 2 months, is starting to "army crawl"

Any suggestions????

Well last night she woke at 2:20, she fussed until about 2:45 and when she started crying I went in and picked her up she stopped crying instantly so I put her down and rubbed her back and her crying just kept going and dh came in and picked her up and rocked her (he just cannot listen to her cry)but she didn't stop so since she usually wakes between 4-5 to eat and it was 3:40 I fed her, she ate good and was not quite asleep when I put her back down but she went to sleep easily until about 6:45.  For her am nap right now I put her down awake and she went right to sleep (as usual) and woke after 45 min but put herself back to sleep after about 10 min (I watched on the monitor)  and yesterday for her pm nap she slept about 1 15 and put herself back to sleep for another 45 after about 5 min awake - Why won't she do this at night?????  THis is the 3rd night and it's really getting old because she was a good sleeper for so long!!!

Last night was better.  I got some advise to do her feeding before the bath as she may be getting too sleepy and even though she is not completely asleep she almost is.  So last night I fed her first, then bath, then rock/sing.  She went to sleep on her own very easily, fussed around 2am and woke at 4:15, I fed her and back to sleep until 7:15.  So back to normal (for one night anyway ;)  Hopefully it will stay this way, I feel so much better this morning!!!  After we are back on track a while longer, I may try going back to bath first but adding a book or 2 after feeding as she is really beginning to be interested in them and the bath gets her pretty excited - but we'll see.

Thanks  :D
