Short naps just beyond sleep cycle - question?
« on: October 03, 2008, 00:56:35 am »
What do naps of 50mins - 1h 15 mean? My lo has started to go beyond the 45min mark some of the time and either goes for 2 hours or wakes after about 55min or 65 min. I'm not sure whether this is still OT or in fact UT. I have been extetnding his A time slowly and he is now on about 1h 25min. He's 11 week old so it seems unlikely he could have much more A time to be honest?

I'm confused and also don't know whether to try an extend the naps when he wakes after this time or just get him up? Any suggestions. I have tried extending a few times and he often falls back to sleep which suggests to me that he was OT and that's why he woke.

There's always something to try and figure out isn't there?!

TIA

naps longer than 45 min usually mean UT.  you could extend another 5 min but i wouldn't go much more than 1.5 hours at this age.

if he wakes happy i would just get him up and t hen shorten the next A time and put to bed a bit earlier to avoid OT
