When testing food do you test everything?
« on: October 30, 2008, 17:56:27 pm »
This maybe a dumb question, but do you need to try Every food individually?
For example if I am making dd homemade banana pancakes and the recipe calls for flour, do I need to test the flour for 4 days before moving on? Does this make sense? Just wondering things like flour, oil, fillers etc, do they also need to be tested?

Oh gosh if you did that you would never get anywhere, BUT at her age, she should have already had fruits, cereals, vegetables, by them self, right?

Did she react to rice cereal, oatmeal or multigrain or wheat cereal?  Did she react to banana's?

As far as the oil goes and I assume egg would be in it, You could test egg by itself, but not really the oil.

Has she had any processed snack type foods.

If she has not really reacted to foods in the past, I would not worry so much.  If you do get a reaction though, you will have to go through the ingredient list and determine what could have been the cause through trail and error.

Let us know how she does, Wendy

Thanks, I have a 3yr old and I can't even remember that far back as to what we did.. My mind is gone.
She has had all of the grains except multi and tried many fruits and veggies and no reaction with anything.
The only processed food she has had are gerber puffs. Everything else I have made.

We were off to a slow start with solids due to her reflux, but moving along now.

I would just try and if she does react, then you will just need to pinpoint it down.

Sounds like you will be fine though
