3 year old and WI/WO
« on: October 03, 2008, 10:33:24 am »
My 3 year has been sleeping well in his own bed but has slowly ended up in our bed and now when he wakes in the night, wants to sleep with mummy and daddy. Will WI/WO work on a 3 year old as he is so much more wilful and demanding as well as strong  !!

Have tried but end up getting very tired and giving in to him (am currently 6 months pregnant !!!)

Any advice on how to approach ?

Thanks

Consistency, consistency, consistency!!!!

I'm having the same problems as we've just transitioned to a BBB and at nap time DS  (2yr 9 mo) gets up and comes out of his room many, many times  (as we speak*sigh*!)::) Strangely enough he goes straight to bed at night for DH ::) :P

So, I just return him to his bed without any communication or eye contact and repeat until he goes to sleep!!!

I have successfully done WI/WO with him too recently to get back on track after illness etc. It usually takes about a week.
I would say it's better to sort it out now if you have the energy before the new babe comes along!

Just a FYI my DD was coming out of her room as well and I installed one of those child proof plastic handle covers on her door so she can't open the door.  Worked like a charm!!!
