Has anyone got major constipation from rice milk?
« on: November 02, 2008, 05:19:17 am »
Tyler has been on rice milk only for about a week or so.  He showed signs of being constipated, but after a day or so would get it out.  He normally was going every day and it was normal looking, this was on Soy milk.

We tried rice milk to see if it made a difference in his skin and fussiness.  No improvement really there.  The skin does look somewhat better, but could be the weather change here.

Anyhow ds1 never ever got constipated from rice milk.

DS2 has not pooped in 2 days and when he did it was hard.  WELL tonight he tried and tried and finally pooped and it was so hard, it felt like a rock.

He is getting juice too.

Looks like we may go back to Soy Milk.  Any thoughts?

I like your family pic!  Cute!

I never experienced any constipation with my son being on rice milk.  I'm not really sure.  I know juice is bad if they are constipated though.  Water is best, unless you mean prune juice?  I'd make sure he gets lots of fruit and/or veggies.  Or did you stop the fruit still?  That could be part of the problem, less fruit means less fibre...

I know when my daughter was really constipated it made a huge difference when she had more fruit.  The fibre in grains just doesn't work the same it seems.

Good point about the fruit. I only stopped it for one day though.  I really think it is the rice milk because rice cereal always constipated him really bad as a baby.

Ahh yes, the rice cereal is bad that way isn't it?  I suppose if you don't see any difference in symptoms between the rice milk and the soy milk it probably would be best to switch back.  Is almond milk any good for this type of situation?  I don't know much about that stuff.

We have switched back to soy milk.  Almond milk may have worked, but soy was fine.

I am nervous about soy milk, just because what you read, but.....  what do you do.  You know.

Ohh, so your son doesn't have any bad reactions to soy then?  For some reason I was thinking he did.  Yeah, if I was in your situation I'd probably use soy too.

We thought that maybe his fussiness was due to that or his bumps on his skin, The KP, but that is better them him screaming because he can't poop.

Started soy back yesterday and this morning his pooped normal :)
