Taking 1 hour to go to sleep at night-
« on: January 02, 2009, 00:33:15 am »
My 2 year old was sleeping better than ever- 12 hour nights + 1+ hour naps, which for her was fantastic.  Then she got sick, but was still sleeping independently but night and naps were shorter.  As she's recovering from the illness, the last 5 nights she's asked for me or H to rub her back until she goes to sleep.  She's still for a few minutes and then tosses and turns.  This goes on for an hour  :o   Previously she was sleeping about 13+ hours a day, and lately it's about 12 hours a day.

Her routine is
6:40am Wake
12:30pm- 1:50pm/2pm Nap
7pm bedtime

I've tried 15 mins earlier bedtime but to no avail.  Do I need to go later?  She's sleeping through the night, but it seems like 6 hours is way too much A time for such a short nap.

Advice please?

Hmm... She may be able to do another 30 mins active time.
I think I'd be inclined to stop the back rubbing now if she's well. that could go on indefinitely and make it a bad habit...
so, maybe try 30 mins later on bedtime to be sure she's good and tired but not OT, then no back rubbing - maybe DH is out for the evening? something like that. then after a few successful nights I'd try moving bedtime earlier again by 15 mins per night.
does that make sense?
